Jared Barnes, Ph.D.
Professor of Horticulture at Stephen F. Austin State University
PROGRAM DETAILS: Naturalistic Planting at the Plantery
Naturalistic planting isn't just a trend. It’s planting with purpose. Using what we see in nature as our guide and inspiration, we as horticulturists can plant better. Dr. Jared will present what he’s learned growing plants in designed plant communities in the Plantery, our campus micro-farm, plant-growing facility, and teaching garden. He’ll also share how he has integrated naturalistic planting concepts into class activities and how he and students are engaging people in the Nacogdoches community with horticulture.
