Program Details: Camellia Production from Cuttings
All cultural aspects of containerized camellia production from cuttings to saleable product will be presented. The discussion will include propagation, fertility program, IPM program, pruning, irrigation, timing of production, criteria for selecting cultivars for production, and the environment throughout the year for producing healthy saleable camellias.
Bio: Bob Black is the Vice President/Horticulturist at Bennett's Creek Nursery, where he has worked since 1988. He is involved in a number of Professional Organizations where he has served in leadership roles, including Hampton Roads Nursery and Landscape Association (Past President), Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association, IPPS SR (Past President), American Camellia Society (Board of Directors, Horticulture Committee and Plant Registration Committee), Atlantic Coast Camellia Society (Virginia Director), and the Virginia Camellia Society (Past President and current Chair of the Propagation Committee). He was the Hampton Roads Nursery and Landscape Association's Horticulturist of the Year in 2001, and won the IPPS SR Fellows award in 2015 and the Sydney B. Meadows Award in 2019.
