As a student of horticulture, the 2017 annual IPPS conference was incredible. I got to make connections between the material I learned in class and how it works in the real world. I've gained a deeper understanding about how nurseries succeed in the industry, which will no doubt benefit me in the future. My favorite part of the event was meeting all of the people my professors talk about. (You are like celebrities to us!) Chatting on the bus or in between presentations was a real treat. As a student of landscape design, the meeting was still incredible for the same reasons. Many of the attendees at the meeting scoffed when I mentioned I was a student of landscape design-- designers are notorious for not selecting proper plant material. I want to assure everyone that plants will be safe in my hands! I am a horticulturist after all.
