President's Message

Dear Members of the IPPS Southern Region,

It has been a privilege and an honor to serve you in the role of President for our highly respected International Plant Propagator's Society, Southern Region of North America. As I reflect upon the remarkable legacy of this organization, I wish to express my profound gratitude to my predecessors who have upheld its mission and values. The legacy they leave behind will resonate for years to come.

Our 46th annual meeting in Athens not only met but surpassed our expectations, setting a new benchmark for success. The meticulous planning and dedication exhibited by Dr. Tim Smalley and the entire site committee were exemplary. Their tireless efforts in coordinating the auction, ensuring engaging tours, and organizing delightful meals deserve our wholehearted appreciation. Your commitment to fostering an environment of openness and learning was evident in every detail.

Our society thrives because of the continued backing of our invaluable sponsors. Their unwavering support aids in ensuring our meetings remain accessible to all. I would like to express our collective gratitude for their continued investment. Your contributions reinforce the future of IPPS SR and help cultivate the growth of our horticultural community.

To all those who work behind the scenes, serving on the board and various committees – your dedication is the bedrock upon which this society stands. Your passion and professionalism infuse vigor into our operations and help realize our shared vision.

I urge our members to act as ambassadors of the IPPS SR so we can expand our impact in the industry. The vast network we have cultivated holds boundless opportunities for every horticulture professional. Spread the word about our society and motivate your peers to join. Let us work together in enhancing our community and fortifying our collective knowledge. To those considering membership, I extend a warm invitation: click here to become a member.

As always, we strive to encourage and foster the next generation of leaders through our Charlie Parkerson Student Research Competition, Vivian Munday program, Early Career International Exchange Program, Margie Jenkins Conference Scholarship Award, and new Vince Dooley Student Scholarship. We extend a free membership for students. I highly encourage our students and young professionals to take advantage of these opportunities.

In anticipation of our next Annual Meeting, I hope to see many of you in Durham, NC from October 29- November 1. It promises to be another enjoyable and engaging event, where we can Seek and Share with each other. As I continue on this journey as your President, I am inspired by the strong commitment and drive that each of you brings to the IPPS SR. Here's to a fruitful season ahead and to scaling new heights together.

Warm regards,
