PROGRAM DETAILS: Creating Successful Pollinator Habitats: Strategic Plant Selection and Use

While there is a wealth of information out there about pollinators and creating habitats, a lot of that information is misleading, incorrect, or flat out not shared - native bees, anyone? People are still a bit in the dark about how to design a pollinator habitat. This presentation will present the latest and most useful information on what art and science have to offer.

BIO: Ms. Anne Spafford, MLA, is an Associate Professor of Landscape Design in the Department of Horticultural Science at North Carolina State University. She has been teaching for 21 years and has won many teaching awards. She and her students have designed and installed several notable gardens on NC State University’s campus—including the Gregg Museum Pollinator Garden, and a green roof on the Student Center, which is a living laboratory of pollinator habitat and edibles. In winter 2020 UNC Press will publish Creating Successful Pollinator Gardens in the South Through Science and Art, which Anne co-authored with colleague Dr. Danesha Seth Carley.
